I was here when I was 19. I am 38 now. During my stay, I told them all I was deeply unwell because of my dad’s severe chronic emotional abuse but no one wanted to talk about that. Not a single therapist. What on earth? The group therapies were so pathetic. I also got misdiagnosed with Bipolar disorder and put on horrible meds that numbed me from the abuse. Most insane thing ever to treat teenage abuse victims as if it’s them that is disordered instead of realizing they are a victim of severe psychological abuse. How sad. This hospital was so awful and unhelpful. They caused me trauma by treating me like I had zero power whatsoever. Like I couldn’t just call my boyfriend if I needed to. So utterly pathetic to treat patients like they are prisoners. That’s not how people heal their inner child and recover from their crappy upbringings. You don’t just ignore a teenager in distress and slap an incorrect label on her. I know now I have CPTSD.

Linden Oaks has an amazing IOP. Staff is friendly and treats you like an average person. While doing that they teach you a lot of DBT skills and grounding techniques.they also know how to keep cool heads was in program for 2 months and never heard anyone yell once.

Linden Oaks is an absolutely horrible facility in which my daughter has been endangered both mentally and physically by inpatients whom apparently are not able to be controlled by the staff. If it is suggested that your loved one should attend this facility, please deny and find another where they could actually receive help instead of being further traumatized and regressing.

For a psychiatric hospital, this is the best you can get. Staff here really helped me figure out my way. When I was constantly coming in for drug detox, staff were helpful and always made me feel like I mattered. Even staff that I didn’t like or get along with genuinely cared. After 13 hospitalizations here (mostly due to myself not wanting to change), I am finally doing better, and at a boarding school + sober for almost 10 months (since August 25, 2025). I heavily thank all the staff at the B2 adolescent unit for this. Even when kids didn’t get along, staff handled it in a professional manner (which is more than I can say about other places). I owe linden oaks my life- it definitely saved it. Thank you 💕

Some staff were caring but most seemed fed up with their jobs. They messed up my sisters paperwork which made it hard to transfer her to a different program. How does a program that has her mess up what program she’s in AT linden oaks? Her pediatrician was unaware of her Autism and AFRID even though it was clearly stated at intake. Cannot recommend and we could not get her out of there sooner.

This place is the best mental health hospital around. The psychiatrists are amazing. Dr. Ahmari is very compassionate and caring. Jason the therapist on Adult East really cares about his job. The groups were informative. I really felt cared for here. Everything was great. The staff was super supportive as a whole and I appreciate that a lot.

Im at lost of words right now, specially after what me and my family witnessed , knowing I’m at a mental health clinic.. I thought people were meant to be emphatic and caring. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude towards me today. This happened around 2 pm. That’s the time she was working. I was kind and told her I was here for an assessment and she’s like “what did you say” I replied again and she’s like ok and gave me papaerwork to fill out but threw it at me. I thought ok? What is her problem? Another incident happened, There was a Hispanic family there that spoke Spanish and the lady at the front desk spoke Spanish as well, and was speaking English to them, till the lady said in Spanish “ why does she act like she doesn’t speak any Spanish?” After that she spoke Spanish to them…me and my parents saw how unprofessional and rude that was from her part…and embarrassing for her. When me and my mom came back outside my dad had told me that same lady got yelled at by another patient because she was being rude to the patient, just because the patient was asking where her phone was and she replied with “I already checked twice, in the lockers if it’s not there it’s not there

This was my first stay at any mental health facility at the age of 49. I suffered a sudden and unexpected loss and had an attempt which landed me in the ICU for 7 days. Following that I was transferred to Linden Oaks Naperville inpatient. The first day was terrifying and I spent most of it in my room. I just wanted to go home. The next day though and the remaining days, I came to experience the care and support that LO provides its patients every day. There is no judgement or neglect. They are extra quick with bringing you an ice ball or providing requested aromatherapy as well as model magic. I swear I must have gone through tens of those bc I loved them so much for fidgeting. Groups and therapy sessions were of utmost value, each one making me feel more sane and believing I could function again. The thing is though, you have to be willing to learn and be helped in order to gain any valuable skills from the sessions. I know I did and I left the unit feeling empowered and capable of facing reality. Forever thankful patient.
